Unithai Shipyard and Engineering Limited, Thailand’s premier shipyard, continues to develop and strengthen the yard’s capacity and capabilities in ship repair services in response to client needs.

Unithai Shipyard awarded the contract to China’s Huarun Dadong Dockyard to build a floating dock 984 feet in length and 170 feet wide and boasted a lifting capacity of 48,000 tonnes, making it the largest dock ever seen in Thailand.

The christening ceremony took place at the Unithai Shipyard premises on 9th May.

“This new floating dock will increase Unithai Shipyard’s capacity and capabilities to accommodate Aframax and Post-Panamax vessels of up to 150,000 DWT in dry dock for repairs and maintenance,” Unithai Shipyard Managing Director Teerapon Udomkanjananan said. “Together with the existing 50,000-DWT-capacity floating dock, Unithai Shipyard is able to undertake the entire range of ship repair services, up to 200,000 DWT.”
