United Thai Warehouse has been awarded a five-star rating in warehouse operations by the Ministry of Commerce’s Department of Internal Trade, the highest possible rating.
United Thai Warehouse Co, Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Unithai Group, is one of the nation’s leading warehouse operators, general free-zone operators and logistics-service providers.
United Thai Warehouse and United Thai Logistics Senior General Manager Somphong Chalermchainuwong accepted the award on the company’s behalf on April 25 from Internal Trade Department Director-General Watcharee Vimuktayon, at a presentation ceremony at the Grand Mercure Fortune Hotel.
Being accredited as a five-star warehouse by the government is an honour that extends to both of the Unithai storage facilities – one at Bangna-Trat Road Kilometre 23 and the other in Amata Nakhon, Chonburi. The ministry certification indicates that they meet the highest-quality standards.
United Thai Warehouse applied for the accreditation last year. A team assigned by the department conducted an audit and assessment at the warehouses, monitoring their continuous improvement and delivery of excellent-quality service. Verification will take place every two years.
“This achievement marks a significant milestone for Unithai Warehouse, guaranteeing that our professional operations team is capable of delivering high-quality service to meet our clients’ needs, while placing high priority on security and safety to protect their goods,” said Khun Somphong.
The ministry initiated the “five-star” programme to encourage warehouse operations to continuously improve their services and maintain high standards, ensuring that customer requirements are fulfilled. The criteria cover process control and the protection of goods in a hygienic and safe environment. The project is also designed to prepare logistics operators in Thailand for growing market demand with the launch of the Asean Economic Community in 2015.
Khun Somphong has meanwhile been invited to join other senior representatives of major logistics firms in a panel discussion in the near future about the role of the Thai warehouse and logistics business in response to the coming of the AEC.
